Last Wednesday Ksenija asked me to photograph the get together of her book club – seven women of all ages and preferences got together to talk about two passions they all share: reading and writing. One of them called Ksenija „woman with the capital W“ and she was right…
Ksenija is one of those people who live her life to the maximum – she works hard, parties harder, laughs from the bottom of her heart (it sounds like zillion of small bells are ringing), travels all the time, she is a gourmand who is not afraid to try new things or to tell you her opinion, and above all she is a magnificent writer. I knew she writes in her free time so I begged and begged and begged her to send me something she wrote to read. She gave in (Who wouldn’t? I’m like a bulldog when I set my mind on getting something…) and one morning couple of her stories were waiting for me and my morning coffee on the mail. I read them in one breath. Literally. And they completely blew my mind away. They were short but despite their “shortness” managed to push all the right buttons to an intensity I can’t describe. Earlier on, she mentioned to me she liked my writing here on the blog, and I remember thinking after reading her stories “Yeah – right… I look like a 6-year-old compared to comparative literature professor…”.
I have one more unread mail with her stories waiting to be read… but I’m keeping it for a “special day” – a day when I won’t have 35 things on my to-do list, a day when I won’t be so tired to fall asleep at my computer, a day when I will be able to let that intensity overwhelm me again… Until that day, meet Ksenija…
