In a vortex of backlogs…

This past week have been a blur. After months of all-night-sleeps our baby girl decided sleep is overrated. So she wakes up every night at least 5 times. Or more. And she still doesn’t sleep during day. At least no as much as you would expect a 6-months-old to sleep. What does that mean for us? It means operating on a very low number of “sleep hours”. Too low even for me. On top of that, its the busiest time of my “photography” year. So I found myself in a vortex of backlogs regarding blog posts; “I have a lot to blog” is an understatement… Here are a few sneak peeks of some amazing people that are waiting to be blogged.

Dijana + Jagor – the most amazing “freshly” wed couple. And dearest friends.

Baptism of a little baby boy Fran; just check out his hairdo. Future heartbreaker.

Sanja + Mario – they celebrated two years marriage anniversary couple of days ago. And they are still madly in love.

Melanija – a new business demands a new headshot. Although I’m only shooting wedding/portraits, it was such a great experience. Such a great lady.

Baptism of a little baby girl Kim; the joy she brought to her parents life can not be described by words.

And last, Tihana + Boris; photo shoot that took place by the seaside this summer. They were mind blowing. Just wait and see.

In couple of hours, Ivana and Ed are tying the knot. My gear is all set and I can‘t wait to have them in front of my camera again. Stay tuned

Baptism | Leonarda | Sv. Mati Slobode | Zagreb

Its always such a joy to photograph little ladies and gentlemen so when Leonarda’s mother asked me to photograph her baptism, of course I said “Yes”. Leonarda  was born on March 10th but she takes exploring the world around her so seriously:

Both my mother and my father are only child so I grew up without an aunt or uncle and spent my whole life secretly envying that special bond children have with their aunts/uncles. It was so nice to see that bond between Leonarda and her aunt:

What can I say about Leonarda’s mom? Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. The lady looks like this three months after giving birth. Respect!

The ceremony took place in Sv. Mati Slobode in Zagreb – one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in.

This blog post has patiently been waiting to get published for a long time now. In the last week of June I meet with baby Peter and his lovely parents to memorise his first year and everything he learned, discovered and accomplished during that time. Things that seems so simple to us (like walking, eating with a spoon and catching small football ball with his hands) and yet so complicated and grand to a child.

Peter, you little charming man, happy birthday and celebrate it well this weekend! And eat a piece of cake for that silly lady that chased you around with a camera that sunny Monday morning

You could describe this year as a “children” year; at least in my circle of friends. Three of my good friends are pregnant and one already gave birth to adorable little heartbreaker Fran. Those un-pregnant ones are convinced that our “condition” is contagious and don’t wanna spend too much time hanging out with us “just in case it doesn’t rub off to them” – silly creatures

2011: The Favorites

Last week, I took some time for myself – Internet was reduced to minimum, blogging too, my camera was waiting patiently on her shelf (of course it’s a “she”) and I was left alone with my thoughts. Not always the best thing in my case but it’s a must do. One of the things I did was taking time to pick my favourites photos form 2011 – an ungrateful assignment but also a necessary one. The “problem” is I always compare myself/my work to others and I’m never satisfied. Ever. But seeing all those emotions/beautiful people/special occasions captured by me on one pile made me dance the happy dance (quite the embarrassing dance routine – you do not wanna witness that… those who had that “pleasure” are hoping never to see it again). Cause, all in all, I’m proud of the images below and the people who stood in front of my camera.

Božo – A Little Bundle of Joy

Couple of days ago I had the pleasure to photograph little Božo’s baptism – the cutest little bundle of joy I’ve ever seen. He looks like a „little man“ despite the fact he is only one month old. I came to their home an hour before scheduled baptism to take some „unofficial“ photos:

D-Day…

Yesterday was a huge day for me. Gigantic. Like D-Day in trying to accomplish my dreams of becoming a professional photographer. Yesterday was the day when I did my first „official gig“ as a photograph. I was so nervous the whole week before – you know that feeling you have in your stomach before an important exam? Well… stronger than that… I couldn’t sleep the night before so I did what relaxes me the most – played games on my computer (Zeus was on repertoire) until 2 o’clock in the morning (thank God for coffee the next morning).

I got there (a nervous wreck) and decided I couldn’t go through it like that; I had to calm down. So I took one deep breath… and another one… and another one until I was ready “to rock them”. And I did. I still have lots and lost and lost to learn but I think I did quite well for my first „official gig”. At the end, Katarina and her family will be the judge to that. And those of you who read my blog. Here is a sneak-peek:

P.S. this beautiful, stunning woman gave birth a month ago… A MONTH AGO…  And she looked like a million dollars in that gorgeous dress yesterday.

Katarina, thank you for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to memorise your son’s baptism. It meant the world to me…

The small Empress

What fascinates me is when you ask a boy and a girl to tell you their love story, you always get two different versions. Always. 

The only thing that “matches” in both Sanja and Zoki’s story is location of their encounter; they worked together and they met in winter of 2009. He asked her on a cup of coffee; during work hours. After couple of “short-during work hours” coffees, they started to go on longer ones; after work hours. After a while, those “longer-after work hours”coffees turned into evening dates and nights on the town. The difference in their story is that Sanja claims that he was pursuing her while she wasn’t into him as much… He, on the other hand, claims she was very much into him – she just didn’t wanna admit it. 

Nevertheless, they hooked up and on March the 6th this year they became proud parents of baby girl Morana - the cutest, most peaceful and most serious baby girl I ever met. Last Sunday, I had the pleasure to snap-shoot one sunny afternoon with them. You should have seen us: four clowns, leaning over Morana, trying to make her laugh… or at least giggle… and – nothing. She was serious, delightful and dignified all the time; like a small Empress.
